On a partly cloudy Tuesday, July 9th, the Central Kentucky Network of Baptists (CKNB) hosted a heartwarming event at Lexington's Woodland Park. Designed as a time of fellowship for Network pastors and church leaders, this event also aimed at community outreach and gospel engagement. The picturesque park setting served as the perfect backdrop for an afternoon filled with camaraderie and purposeful interaction.
A Community Drawn Together
Setting up a free hot dog stand became the highlight of the day, attracting parkgoers of all ages. Young children, families, lifeguards, and swimmers from the nearby pool were all drawn to the picnic table by the Woodland Park Gazebo. The stand not only satisfied their hunger but also provided a welcoming space for meaningful conversations.
Gospel Conversations and Outreach
The cookout was more than just about food; it was an opportunity for the CKNB group to engage with the community on a deeper level. Gospel flyers were distributed, sparking numerous gospel conversations and extending invitations to church. It was heartening to see people respond positively, showcasing the power of simple acts of kindness in fostering spiritual connections.
Special Thanks to Brad Pearce & Volunteers
A special shoutout goes to Brad Pearce, CKNB Ambassador, who really carried out his vision for seeing the summer EQUIP Cookouts be as successful as they were. Brad prepared over 120 hot dogs, ensuring that everyone who stopped by left with a smile and a full stomach. His efforts exemplified the spirit of service and fellowship that the CKNB stands for. We also are grateful to the representatives from local churches (Mission Church, Ashland, Durbin Memorial, Living Hope Fellowship, Baptist Campus Ministry and Center Point churches) who helped spread the word through the park that generated the traffic to the event location. It was a true partner effort.
Looking Forward
All in all, the CKNB EQUIP Cookout & Outreach was a success. The blend of fellowship among church leaders and outreach to the community created an environment ripe for Kingdom growth. As we reflect on this event, we are filled with hope and anticipation for the seeds planted in Woodland Park to bear fruit in the days to come.
Stay tuned for more events and opportunities to connect, serve, and grow together in faith.
