This past Sunday marked a significant milestone for Lexington's Porter Memorial Baptist Church as they hosted a heartwarming soft launch service of a new church plant in the Brookside area of Nicholasville, KY. The service was a manifestation of faith, vision, and unity, drawing over 100 attendees who came together to worship and humbly pray for Christ to be at the center of this new endeavor.
Porter Memorial has long envisioned investing in a new church plant or replant, earnestly praying for God's guidance and provision. This vision began to take shape in October 2023 when Brookside Baptist Church made the forward-thinking decision to close and entrust their property and assets to the Central Kentucky Network of Baptists. This generous act was intended to further gospel work in Jessamine County, and it opened the door for Porter Memorial to step in and cultivate a new ministry at the former Brookside campus.
The atmosphere during the soft launch was electric with excitement and hope. Among the congregation were individuals with deep ties to Brookside Baptist Church, including a former founding member and several members who were present during Brookside's closure and asset divestment. This gathering served as a beautiful testament to the unity of the church, demonstrating how collaboration and shared vision can breathe new life into familiar soil.
Porter Memorial's Pastor Nick Sandefeur and Pastor Bryan Watts, who will lead the launch team of 75 dedicated individuals, addressed the congregation with a message of hope and renewal. The team is diligently preparing for the official launch of the newly named Porter at Jessamine Station on August 11th. As they embark on this journey, they are committed to planting seeds of faith and nurturing this new chapter in their church's history.
We invite you to join us in prayer for this burgeoning ministry in a county which is among the most unchurched counties in Kentucky. May Porter at Jessamine Station flourish, rooted deeply in faith and united in purpose. Let's celebrate this new beginning and the promise it holds for spreading the gospel and fostering community in Jessamine County.
