Compassion Ministries
We exist to support our affiliated local churches as they make an impact in their communities by identifying and meeting needs. This accomplishes two important goals: creates an avenue to positively influence the area immediately around the local church and facilitates life-change by introducing people to a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Feed the Hungry
Our Feed the Hungry Sack Lunch Ministry began 2 decades ago with 50 sack lunches and now boasts countless volunteers who serve an average of 2,000 brown bag lunches to the homeless and to families in need in Central Kentucky. The most recent addition to our Feed the Hungry Ministry is a hot lunch program which operates out of Grace Baptist Church in downtown Lexington. A Food Box ministry has also been a welcome addition which serves families in need of non-perishable grocery support.
Christmas Toy Project
Annual events such as the Christmas Toy Project brings together hundreds of volunteers to provide toys for over 1,500 children each year. Churches collect Christmas toy donations from their congregations and other partners throughout the year and through special Toy drives enabling them to set up "Toy Stores" in the community where families in need can purchase items for their children at discounts over 90%. Volunteers help shoppers find items and also facilitate Gift Wrap stations during store hours.
We are always looking for more partners. If you or your church would like to participate in the Christmas Toy Project, please reach out!
Back to School Backpacks
Another annual outreach event is the Back to School Backpack Program. Much like the Toy Project, the Backpack Program exists to provide essential Back to School supplies and backpacks for kids in need to start their school year off right.
Some churches collect items throughout the year, while other churches elect to do a seasonal donation drive to provide the resources needed to fill the backpacks. While other churches elect to do a "Fill A Backpack" Campaign challenging members to provide a fully stocked backpack.
Volunteers from churches around out network gather to assemble backpacks to be distributed from local churches into the community.

Disaster Relief
Kentucky is no stranger to bad weather. Recently, the western and eastern portions of our state have witnessed the destructive power of the elements. The Central Kentucky Network of Baptists is a proud partner with Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief, an arm of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. For decades KBDR has served wherever disaster strikes to help families rebuild homes, communities and lives in the wake of loss.
Whether it is helping rebuild a house, cleaning up debris, passing out Bibles, establishing shelters, preparing meals or distributing water bottles, Disaster Relief volunteers help share the love and mercy of Jesus Christ to those hurting and desperate for hope.

The CKNB has a Shower Trailer which is fully equipped to provide portable showering facilities which can be taken into communities in need and to assist volunteers who are staying long term at a disaster site.
